mla1209 7 Posted November 29, 2017 I haven't seen blood on my stool for quite a while now. But just a few minutes ago, I think I saw some blood on my soft stool and some on the tissue. I'm freaking out. The only thing that's been keeping me sane is the fact that there hasn't been any blood when I go. I would feel the occasional urgency, which I've posted a lot about recently, but it would go away and sometimes I'd have constipation after. I fear blood because 2 years ago I experienced this and they saw some inflammation in my colon and a 1 cm benign but precancerous polyp. My 2 succeeding colonoscopies were clear. Only hemorrhoids were found and my GI doc told me I have IBS. This doesn't make me feel any better. I had pizza yesterday and used ketchup with some food. I do not think the blood I saw looks likes like those. All I can think about is polyps or inflammation. Please help me

Please help me I have bright red blood from time to time.. it usually happens when I'm constipated.. I've asked my Dr over and over about bright red blood on the toilet paper and a little on the outside of the stool and she says the same thing... It's blood from tearing.. from hard stools, straining too hard or hemorrhoids.. I know it's a scary feeling.. I'm sorry. It could also be tomatoes.. and you thought it was blood in the stool?? I've done that before. Red Bell peppers are the worst, those always scare me until I back track to what I ate. Walgreens has these test sheets you can throw in the toilet after you have a bowel movement and it detects blood. I did that for awhile until my anxiety went down about it.
mla1209 7 Posted December 2, 2017 I had a closer look and I know it's blood, looks as if it was smeared on the surface of my stool. Sorry for tmi. What I have noticed though in my BM today is that there was a little pain in my anus when the stool came out. My stool was also very solid, almost as if I was constipated but it wasn't so hard to move. Some parts were a little dark/blackish. I ate chocolate cake last night. About a month ago the same thing happened to me. Ate chocolate cake and had dark stools the next morning. It makes me worry how fast I'm moving my bowels. And if it's not the chocolate cake that's causing the dark stools, maybe it's internal bleeding? This has still got me so worried.

It does make the stool darker. As far as the more formed possibly harder stool, that's really all it takes to cause a little tear. When I tear it takes awhile for it to heal so I'll have red blood for a few days. If it was blood it would be Cole black and tarry. My co-worker had colon cancer (she's five yr cancer free) but she had black black tarry stools and also dark dark red to black blood clots.
FunWithFive 60 Posted December 19, 2017 Just call your gastro if you are nervous. I also had blood on the outside of my stools and had a colonoscopy and they removed a 10mm polyp. That was where my bleeding was coming from.

I had the same worries the first couple times I experienced it, but chances are if it was colon cancer, there would be blood clots in every stool, and not just small ones but ones you can't miss or mistake. It hasn't happened for a few months, so I'm convincing myself I strained too much or it was something I ate. Also, when it happens to me there's not really any pain. I'm not a doctor, but I would think colon cancer would cause painful BM's as well. Same for the internal bleeding, you would probably have to be in a massive amount of pain to be bleeding internally. Even a dull pain wouldn't indicate that.

It was a benign but precancerous polyp. It was removed and my subsequent scopes have been clear since. My last gastro appointment was April this year and again, he saw/felt internal hemorrhoids that made its way out somehow. I saw the bulge when I looked in the mirror. It was sooo itchy. So that somehow had me convinced that I do have hems. However, the fear of having another polyp that could quickly turn cancerous has never escaped me. It's my constant fear. They say polyps take time to grow and become cancerous. I find it hard to believe that as I always think my case could be the exception. My doc says I can come back after 3 years from my last scope which was in 2015. 2018 is going to be revolve around my follow up scope, I can already tell.
