Drewdude 13 Posted May 2, 2017 Hello everyone, I've just refound this site and glad I did. I'm worried again. Trying to cope but just getting stuck on the last hurdle. Last year, about 14months ago I had really bad trapped wind, bloated ness after xmas. I thought then it was stress or tight trousers! Anyway I think there is a connection to wheat and think that when I wear my tight trousers, (which i love) and eat certain wheats, I get badly bloated. If i take a windeaze tablet i'm fine, even if i loosen my belt i'm fine. But for some reason this time i'm focussing a bit too much and convincing myself i have something serious. So, basically I went to the docs last week to ask about wheat allergy and to tell him about my symptoms to see if he could give me some nutritional help. I only had 8 mins and told him i had IBS symptoms. He immediately said that I was at the age when I was still low risk but only just for things like Bowel Cancer..i'm 39! I didn't freak out immediately but he examined me and said there was nothing wrong and he gave me a FOD diet plan and told me to watch the symptoms. He didn't answer many of my questions just kind of agreed etc. So since my visit I've been googling my old friend bowel cancer again! I have none of the symptoms, only trapped wind and uncomfortableness that really does seem to disperse if i loosen my pants of take a windeaze pill. I have also calculated that I have had the same problem for at least 16 months. I'm now trying to wear looser pants again and to eat slower but i'm getting all sorts of other anxiety related feelings that i didn't have before. My rational mind is telling me not to be so daft, but my hypo mind is telling me...'It could be BC....it might just be really subtle..' So...2 questions.... 1) If i'd had this for so long and it was anything serious, wouldn't i probably know about it by now? 2) and 2....Surely taking a wind gaze tablet or loosening my trousers wouldn't stop the symptoms of bowel cancer?!?! would it??? Any help appreciated!!
Holls 1505 Posted May 2, 2017 I worked with 2 women how had bowel cancer.. one had black tarry stools and even blood clots in the toilet.. the second woman had horrible pains and was having bowel prob.. they both knew something was very wrong and was diagnosed within weeks you said this has been going on for months. I think you would start having more symptoms. If your Dr didn't push for a colonoscopy I would find relief in he thinks it's nothing serious. Like you said think rational and you can get through this... Please stop googling it will only fuel the fire.. you think it will make you feel better but it only makes it worse. Ihadcancer 321 Posted May 2, 2017 I had colon cancer and had no symptoms until I had a bowel obstruction and that stopped everything from gas to food to feces from passing. My FOBT smears were always blood FREE. I started out at Stage IIIB, so don't fall for the 'you'd know it if you had it'. You might have some gall bladder stones or sludge but sounds more to me like food issues instead. Tight clothing messes up digestion. I stopped wearing jeans and almost live in aerobic pants and leggings which are super comfy. I get bloated and gas after certain foods and I have had a colonoscopy every year for 8 years and now am moving to 5 years. Only one polyp in 2009 and it was cancer. You're fine. Be careful what you eat, stop wearing clothing that keeps your innards from working and if the Beano type stuff works, take it! Believe me, gas is NOT a symptom of colon or rectal cancer. Wow you didn't have any symptoms? I thought colon cancer had symptoms that you would know when things were off. Scary, you never know.
Ihadcancer 321 Posted May 3, 2017 That is why colon cancer kills so many people. It's not found until it's very advanced. I had no symptoms even when I had the met to my liver. Felt awesome. I took Immodium for diarrhea after eating some very greasy fries at a BBQ joint and that caused a blockage. The blockage got worse and I couldn't keep down food so went to a gastro on New Year's Eve as an emergency and had my colonoscopy on Jan. 2nd, surgery Jan. 5th and was home in 42 hours, with Stage IIIB colon cancer. Three years later the doctor said 'Do you want to skip the scan since everythings so good?' I'm met my deductible so said I'd have one more and the met (smaller than a dime) was found. No symptoms. No positive FOBT. My tumor markers never got over 8.5 while many people have markers of 1,000 or higher.
Drewdude 13 Posted May 3, 2017 Wow um not sure this is all helping but an interesting story and I wish you all the best. It must sound pretty pathetic for you when you see all of us with these "imaginary" illnesses but I guess you must understand or you wouldn't be here. The thing with HA is that when someone leaves any doubt whatsoever, that's what our brains focus on. So later I will probably be thinkinh about these posts and think "well a year ago I had the same feeling...wonder if that was the start of it...but the feeling disappeared for 8 months before coming back??" Then you decide you know what it is (in my case tight trousers, stress, eating too quick) and you think "well I reckon a visit to the docs won't go amiss" so you go, he says it all normal BUT he says "nothing to worry about...unless any other symptoms appear like loss of appetite etc." "ok doc...cool...I'm okay then..." you leave the office....confident that all is well...and then the doubts begin to set in. You read somewhere once that vague symptoms could still be that thing...hell you've had more than vague symptoms....but they have come and go, surely if it was anything I would know about it now...but no, someone said it could still be....cue all the other symptoms, present symptoms much worse and you're in a right mess. In in my case....I got round these fears by convincing myself that these symptoms come on at random intervals and sometimes I don't get them for months. But obviously maybe I should be worried about them now??
Drewdude 13 Posted May 3, 2017 I'll tell you what...better question....the symptoms of bc wouldn't disappear for months on end and come back would they?? Without any associated symptoms? Those intervals where they do come back nicely coinciding with periods of stress or what eating? I know the answer I don't really know why I'm asking...
