GMan 5 Posted April 19, 2016 Does anyone ever get room spinning type of dizziness? Those episodes really suck. Sometimes when I turn my head I get a very brief dizzy type episode, almost like my eyes are moving. It's very hard to explain. Then I get the room spinning/moving episode. Feels like my eyes are playing tricks on me at times, especially if I'm scrolling up or down on my phone. This has become very bothersome, and causes panicky attacks. Does this happen to anyone else? JungleJulia 235 Posted April 19, 2016 This hasn't happened to me but I've read about it as a symptom of anxiety It sounds awful but try not to let it upset you too much. If you're anxious, it'll just feel worse. Try to remind yourself that its just anxiety effecting you and it'll hopefully lessen over time.
GMan 5 Posted April 20, 2016 Yeah, it gets real bothersome.
Mark G 1187 Posted April 20, 2016 Sometimes when I turn my head I get a very brief dizzy type episode, almost like my eyes are moving Classic symptom. How do you know you feel it every time you move your head? You know because as soon as you turn your head, you focus in on how it feels, you are anticipating that feeling of dizziness. Anticipation stems from nervousness and fear which is anxieties fuel and what keeps it going. This has become very bothersome, and causes panicky attacks Panic is a reactionary symptom to an initial fear. It's a fight or flight response to a danger signal sent from your brain. You are feeling these symptoms and panic flashes because you fear it intensely. The panic you feel is always in reaction to the initial panic. The more you fear it, the more anxiety, the more panic. So when you turn your head or move whilst inwardly checking for the result, the sensation you feel is immediately deemed by your brain as being dangerous, so you go into fight or flight mode. Does that make sense?
GMan 5 Posted April 20, 2016 Yea, that definitely makes sense. The fear moves from one symptom to another. When I get over one symptom then something else comes to bother me.
Mark G 1187 Posted April 20, 2016 Oh yes, thats how it works sadly as your mindset remains the same. You will find that you will have a collection of symptoms that cycle from one to another.
GMan 5 Posted April 21, 2016 Its hard to break that cycle
Mark G 1187 Posted April 21, 2016 Yes it is, very hard indeed, but it's entirely possible.
Kylie21 357 Posted April 21, 2016 Hi Gman, I suffered dizziness and headaches for almost 9+ months. Dizziness is my biggest trigger. Most of my dizziness came from my ears (vertigo) and neck tension. I was in a car accident in 2014 and because of it i had lots of neck issues and my chiro and dr think that trauma caused the vertigo with the ears. But the neck tension SOOOO commonly causes dizziness. Now dizziness is very broad term because it can mean room moving , feeling like you are on a rocking boat or like you will faint. The longer i feared it the longer it lasted. It was with therapy that i "accepted" yes I had to fully accept it. That it was there for reasons i mentioned above and that the fear of it made it worse and continue on. When I did that the symptom continued to lessen. I get it here and there but now I am able to know the cause and not give it a second thought and therefore it doesn't stay around long or freak me out the way it did. The only reason these symptoms keep coming up or manifesting into new is that.. FEAR. IF we fear something we tighten up we constantly wait for it to HIT. and its like we set ourselves up for it to keep happening. Its one of the MOSt common symptoms in anxiety. And when you can accept it for that a anxiety caused thing... that it will not harm you. you will notice it coming on less and less. Try massage for neck if u hold lots of tension. Or a heat pack or ice to reduce that tension. IT does wonders. Wishing you the best stay positive! it gets better
GMan 5 Posted April 22, 2016 I never thought about trying the heating pad. Neck tension probably has a lot to do with it because I get headaches/pressure that start from the back of my neck.. Plus ear ringing/pressure, and throbbing/knocking in my ears.
Mark G 1187 Posted April 22, 2016 Kylie is entirely right GMan, the vast majority of tension headache stem from the base of the back of the neck and even more commonly, the SCM muscles which run from the top of your breast bone to the back of your ears. If you felt these two muscles, you would feel area's of tenderness which is common. Ringing ears and pressure is also associated with these muscles. The anxiety then amplifies and you catastrophise what you are feeling as being a terrible disease etc. Relaxing these muscles can really help.
GMan 5 Posted April 23, 2016 Yea that's always the first thought, "major illness"... What you said makes sense, because sometimes the headache runs from the side of my neck, up and around my ear.
Mark G 1187 Posted April 23, 2016 I'd put money on your SCM muscle being the problem. Massage of these muscles can really sooth a headache. Dropping your shoulders takes the pressure off too.
GMan 5 Posted April 23, 2016 I have another one for ya... You ever get the rushes when you stand? Not the usual "stand too fast" rush. But like a rush in the pit of your stomach, with elevated blood pressure... Sometimes dizziness and shortness of breath,
Kylie21 357 Posted April 24, 2016 Anxiety can bring on just about any symptom or sensation. :/ Just remember the more attention and fight we give it the more it continues.
Mark G 1187 Posted April 24, 2016 Yes GMan, that is caused by nervous anticipation, that churning of your stomach is adrenalin. You anticipate the rush when standing so what happens?
