Palpitations

Recommended Posts

My anxiety hasn't been too bad latley, but I've been having alot of palpitations today. I just had two hard ones in a row while laying down. It frightened me so bad I jumped out of bed. I thought my heart was going to stop. Now I'm feeling really on edge and jittery. I've been really bloated lately so I think that's what's causing them. I'm trying not to let my mind wonder to thinking it's something worse. It just felt like my heart dropped really hard, and it scared me quite a bit.

I get palpitations more when laying down. I also get them when I have heartburn. My doctor says its common to have them when laying down. I'm sure your fine. Try to relax. Palpitations won't hurt you.?

If you're bloated it may be reflux pains rather than palpitations.  Reflux can cause all sorts of weird chest sensations. I find peppermint oil capsules great for bloating  (called Colpermin here, over the counter).

I've had reflux issues for about a year now and it STILL makes me think I'm having heart trouble,  even though my gp has assured me over and over that it's fine.

I'm bloated all the time. I also have reflux and am on medication for that. Let's just say my stomach has never liked me.

The palpitations just freak me out because I don't expect them. I've also noticed I get them when I'm laying down, breath in real deep, or squat down to pick something up. So I can see my stomach being the cause. It's just a pain.

Hi Shelby, I had palpatations known as PVC's, premature ventricular contractions,  they can be physically felt, are generally benign, and happen more often when laying down. They were scary as shit for me, and also happened after eating. They went away after a while. Your bloating can be putting pressure on your vagus nerve, which may cause PVC'S,  if that's what it is. Take care.

Hi Its as if I have written this paragraph.  My anxiety hasn't been too bad lately but this evening my heart felt like it dropped hard and it scared me too.  I just wish I could 'float' passed these sensations when they occur but it does shock me ?

I've had heart palps for years and years, they come and go, some days are worse. Too much caffeine affects me the worst and of course stressful days, although the palps seem to be an after thought, more likely to happen once I'm sitting and resting. Adrenalin definitely sets mine off, if I get over excited, boom my heart does a little jig! sometimes it feels like its pounding out of my chest, other times it feels like its fluttering like a butterfly, sometimes it feels like its speeding 100 miles an hour! it usually stops me in my tracks makes me take a deep breath and pause for a min, then I carry on as usual. I've had ones that are big enough I thought I might pass out but I never have, so that's prob just my mind playing tricks on me!
