boyuancy 1 Posted May 26, 2012 I've realized that my triggers are anything associated with academics, college, school, studies, etc. So, I was in the exam the other day, and it was a tough one. I started going through the question paper, and suddenly, I started feeling very weak. I started sweating bullets, felt nauseated, felt like just tearing up the paper and running away from the exam hall.... Then, I started breathing deeply, and distracted myself. Things got a little better. But it happens in every exam, and I have to go through it for the next 3 years! Any immediate tips that you can suggest me? :sos:
Gilly 1086 Posted May 26, 2012 Well it sounds like you are coping very well but I will tell you what I use to get me through those occasions, Bachs Rescue Remedy. Its herbal and it works, you can get drops, spray, gum, pastilles. You should find it in pharmacies and health food stores. I've used it for over 10 years and its my little lifesaver! shaun 6 Posted May 27, 2012 When I was at secondary school I remember a girl having a panic attack while we were lining up before entering the exam hall. At that time no one knew anything about panic attacks and we thought it was very strange. One tip you could try is to have a calming word and repeat the word in your head whenever you start to feel anxious.
xavalonxxx 0 Posted May 27, 2012 I remember when I was making a career change I started going to computer school. This is around the time my panic stuff started and when it was the most out of control. It would typically happen during class so I literally had to walk around outside because I didn't know what was going on. I didn't just suffer through it though. I went and got treated. If this keeps going on I would not hesitate to go and see someone.
Prometheus 1 Posted May 28, 2012 The best thing to do in that situation is to empower yourself. You have to control your breathing by telling yourself to calm down and to keep breathing. Close your eyes and mentally count to 10. Then count down, but feel each breath as you count back down to 1. Control your breathing and focus on the oxygen entering your nostrils and going into your lungs. Focus on the carbon dioxide that is taken from your alveoli up your pulmonary anatomy and out into the world.
Prometheus 1 Posted May 28, 2012 Another thing that you may wish to consider is actively meditating. You can calm yourself down at other times when you are not being examined from the quietness of your room. Think of yourself going on a journey by flight into the clouds where you can control the movement and position of the clouds. Once you are up there, nothing can harm you. Try doing this regularly and you will learn to calm yourself quickly. It will carry over to other aspects of your life.
Chryss 0 Posted May 28, 2012 I was a freshman sitting a final exam with the blue book in front of me. Honestly, I don't they could hype that situation up higher if they tried. Finally somebody told us to open our blue books. The first question was "Name." I had absolutely no idea what my name was. Not the faintest clue, not even a "sounds like" hint. My name could have been Rumplestilskin for all I knew. Actually, that was the second question - the first was "Student Number" and I knew that. But not knowing my name rattled me and panic began to take over. That was when I remembered the nuns (bless them!) from when I was a kid. I could almost see them in my mind and hear them saying, "If there's anything you don't know on an exam, skip right past it to something that you do know, and if there's time, go back and try again." So I did. I answered all the questions and then went back and remembered my name. And I passed.
shaun 6 Posted May 28, 2012 Exams are usually overhyped, you need t put it into perspective and realise it's not the end of the world if you don't do well. People build it up in their head and set themselves up for panic during the event. Put it into perspective, you're a tiny spec on earth, which is a tiny spec in the universe, and you're taking an exam, big deal!
xavalonxxx 0 Posted May 29, 2012 I know its weird but over the years when something is bothering me I always tell myself "What are you worried about, its not going to kill you" I might still be anxious but its a lot easier to deal with.

jonathan123 2368 Posted July 21, 2016 The above post may be deleted by the time I post this. In the UK it is illegal to buy or sell prescribed drugs over the counter or online. What people buy from outside the UK is, unfortunately, not something we can do much about. NEVER take any drug that is on the 'prescribed only' list without your doctor's approval. First of all you don't know what you are getting and you could do yourself irreparable harm. Your doctor knows you and what you need and are capable of taking without harm. In the UK prescriptions are free for those over 60, under 18 or pregnant. Others get them by paying a small charge. Consequently there is little cause to buy 'under the counter'. I am amazed that any country would allow this to happen. Is it legal in the US? Or is Librium not a prescribed drug? It is here!
