So the last few days I've been having the worst anxiety. Does anyone else get bad indegestion? I eat healthy food and I've been very active with coaching and working out. Starting to get anxious cause my stomach is bloated and since I'm anxious I start thinking about my heart. I know I'm healthy but I don't know what's going on. Honestly my stomach is the only thing that's still keeping my anxiety going. I've been wrestling so my heart rate gets up there and it doesn't really scare me anymore. I've been doing great but this week has been a little set back. Let me know what you think. Please and thank you

I'm also having stomach issues. My stomach is bloated today. I also have some heartburn. Last night I had really sharp pain in my side almost in my back.?it freaked me out a lot. I know with me anytime I'm stressed I have stomach problems. That's probably just where you carry your anxiety. I'm sure it's not your heart. Anxiety will cause bloating cause your taking deeper breathes and that causes bloating. My doctor told me that. Try to relax. You'll be fine

Mine lasted for at least a month the first time. I went to the doctor several times. She said to take tums and watch what I eat. And to not stress out. Stay away gas producing food. And really try not to worry. I promise I have it right now. It will go away

With the heartburn temporarily. But don't use to many of them. They can cause constipation. I found drinking tons of water helped and staying away from certain foods. Gaviscon is also good

I have that feeling constantly. I've had it for years.believe me it's all stress and anxiety. Try to except that it is anxiety. Believe me I know that's sooo hard to do. But if you can do it the feeling gets better. Try to find something you enjoy doing to take your mind off it. Hope you feel better and happy new year!!!

I'm the same too. I've had a stressful few weeks, and of course my stomach bares the brunt, then I get anxious about that. I must have been here a million times yet still can't help it. I'm bloated, my stomach goes from a tight band feeling to gnawing and gurgling. I swear, put a pin in me I'll pop! I think the only thing I haven't had this time is heartburn, makes a change!

I'm drinking ginger ale by the litre hoping to remedy it but the mind needs to accept too. I'm still working on that! When it comes to my stomach I crumble!

I had that bloating too gilly. For a few days. I hate that. I also got a really sharp stabbing pain in my flank area. It terrified me. It only lasted a second and did it a few times. My husband said it was gas. I still was worried about it. That was 3 days ago and it hasn't done it again. I hope you feel better. And happy new year!!!

Oh how I hate these stomach problems. This last month has set me way back. Then the last two days has just put me in a dark hole. Family issues has gotten the best of me. When this happens the first thing to go is my stomach. Take one bite of food and straight to the bathroom I go. Thank goodness for my immodium.

What is immodium? And why do are stomachs get messed up from anxiety?

Immodium is anti diarrhea medication, generic name Loperamide. And well they do call the stomach the 2nd brain :p It's very closely linked to the brain, and chock full of nerves. The stomach produces more stomach acid when anxious, the bowel, being one giant muscle can be affected with spasms etc, and also the little antenna that detect serotonin and send the signals to the brain are located in the gut too.

I would suggest massaging your abdomen and eating the lowest acid foods you can for a month or two, literally and see if you can settle it that way. I was on a very strict diet because of mine a few years back and was living on granola and yogurt and toast until it started to settle. Once the mind settles, the stomach can settle too. I know it's hard to do but you have to remind yourself ' my brain is doing this to my gut' and try to not focus on it. Definitely no caffeine and no soda of any kind !!! Don't even drink caff free soda like Sprite. All that carbonation is just a bottle of acid. Think of it like that.

Tums will make you more constipated and then you have to deal with those feelings so it's a double edged sword. It does give temporary relief but the next day you're wishing you hadn't taken them.

Is there any way to shut down the acid? Cause my doctor said I'm producing a lot of stomach acid

You could try over the counter Prilosec or Zantac (I've taken both) for a week or 2, until it settles down. The best natural way is to eat an acid friendly diet. Avoid caffeine, fatty, spicy and greasy foods,  Sodas, and drink lots of water.
