Melannen 5 Posted May 6, 2012 So I got put on Sertraline a couple days back ... suffice it to say that they really messed me up. Nausea, retching at 2 am ... headaches, tremors - yeah you name it, I've had it! As a result, after 3 days of misery I am going to come off it and never go back on it again. Anybody else got any antidepressant horror stories?
Twinks* 16 Posted May 7, 2012 Yes...I have tried about 6 different ones and none of them worked!!
shaun 6 Posted May 7, 2012 I was on SSRI's for around a year. I felt better, I felt I no longer needed the drugs, and one day I stopped taking them. I went 'cold turkey', but I had no problems coming off the drugs. My psychiatrist was amazed when I told him, the plan is to ween yourself off gradually - he was surprised I didn't experience any problems.
JOYCICLE 654 Posted May 9, 2012 And Twinks, what does that tell you ?
kinser 3 Posted May 9, 2012 I went off Prozac "cold turkey" with no problems. I think the withdrawal symptoms are typically worse for different drugs. I did have a bad experience with Wellbutrin SR (not coming off, but just with taking the drug period). It made my anxiety issues so much worse, which is a listed side-effect of the drug. Quirky Jessi 2 Posted May 12, 2012 It made my anxiety issues so much worse, which is a listed side-effect of the drug. That always scares me. I know every drug comes with its side effects and risks, but when it makes your current symptoms worse, it can be quite dangerous. I had a s*****al friend who was trying to get help and the meds they chose for her ended up making the s*****al thoughts even worse....it was crazy and she had to be watched like a hawk until they could get her off that and switched to another. And Mel, that's awful. I hope it clears up soon.
Tecca_Nina 3 Posted May 13, 2012 When I came off of mine, I felt a HECK of a lot better than I did when I was on them. They effected me really badly.
