Alice95 20 Posted April 2, 2015 So ive been suffering with anxiety for a year now. However this constant chest pain, stabbing pain, tightness pain in my left arm are continually there on a day to day basis. I feel like some days im not here like I need to pinch myself to make sure I am and that im breathing like depersonalization I guess? Ive been ill with a cold and have asthma so has been effecting my chest could this make me have chest pain or is it the anxiety? I feel like I'm never gonna be normal. I can't be away from home cause im obsessed that im gonna have a heart attack. Ive had 7 day heart monitor and few other tests and everything came back fine So now what? All my love Al xxx
Captiinbirdseye 8 Posted April 2, 2015 Yeah its anxiety Alice ive had it it sucks but it is only anxiety i too have just had a cold i mean man flu and it made my symptoms perk up, that feeling about not wanting to be away from the home sounds like agoraphobia again i have it and it feels like you are going to have a heart attack when panic sets in but again it wont happen your safe and its just anxiety i say just its still so uncomfortable but it wont hurt you. And your right the breathing things is denationalization a lot of people get it when there depressed which most people in our situations are so your not alone and it can all be treated and dealt with. can try the following to help with anxiety. 1.Meditation build a dream house safe place in your mind make your self a sanctuary its amazing how relaxing this is and you'll be tired after every time you try it and good amount of sleep always helps with the anxiety. 2.cut out has much caffeine, nicotine, alcohol has you can and knock any illegal drugs if you do them on head this will all lower anxiety. 3.Use distraction techniques like come online and talk to people take your ind away from it or watch a movie or a favorite you tube channel 4.Change diet if you don't have many carbs increase it a little it will make you feel better and also do more exercise aerobic only has it naturally releases feel good chemicals into the brain and helps with health anxiety has it gives you anther reason why you may be having the odd pain and just makes it easier to deal with. 5. write all your anxiety's and thoughts out into a book for some reason it helps just to get everything out your head and down onto something else i don't know why lot of doctors recommend it and it does work. 6.Try to accept that it is just health anxiety and possibly OCD that is causing you to repeat these worrying thoughts has being anxious makes you hyper sensitive to all your bodily functions. 7. go speak to a doctor and get the right meds i found after 6 years of stupidly avoiding the doctors that these tablets really work first 6 weeks while they settled in sucked but my mind is so my clearer now i would implore you if you haven't already to speak to a doctor 8.Self help boks and CBT therapy are all good places to help change how you look at things overall 9.some people say teas and certain herbs are relaxing cant say ive tried them though. 10. dont suffer in silence when your down come online find some mates talk to people who can relate build some connections build yourself a little online network of support learning each others storys and that we arnt alone really does help and if you wanna chat can always get in touch. anyways all the best home your feeling better soon peaceeeeeeeeeeee.
walkingwithGod 169 Posted April 2, 2015 I too have the chest pains and fear of having heart attack! Its anxiety! I also have acid reflux which sometimes contributes to the chest tightness and stuff.. it stinks but if u recognize it for what it is, and tell yourself younhave had tests and all was ok then u will be fine. I know its uncomfortable but try not to focus on it because that makes it worse! Your not alone and i agree, go to the doc and consider some meds for a little bit. We are here for you!! Dany 10 Posted April 4, 2015 I am sorry to hear about your problems. It is good that you took a heart examination and now you are confident that you have a healthy heart. This means only one thing: anxiety related chest pains. These can be treated in different methods, depending on your state of mind and the intensity of your anxiety. Here are some effective tips you can follow to ease the symptoms: Control Your Breathing –> Recall that this type of chest pain is often caused by hyperventilation, and even if you're not hyperventilating, getting your breathing under control is a great way to calm the nerves. Take slow, controlled breaths using deep breathing techniques that take at least 15 seconds and you'll quickly see a difference. Control Your Thoughts –> One of the reasons I recommend going to a doctor first is because understanding that your chest pain is anxiety related reduces the severity of the experience. You know that your heart is in good health, so don't let your thoughts spiral out of control. Otherwise you may make the chest pain worse. Control Your Environment –> Chest pain caused by thoughts or anxieties is often made worse when you sit and focus on the experience. See if you can give yourself a healthy coping distraction, and much of the chest pain will fade away. I hope this helps... Take care and be safe! JOYCICLE 654 Posted April 5, 2015 Your heart is fine ! The doctor's job is to make money. They can make MORE money if you have a heart problem and they can do more treatments and medicines. So believe this ! If there was something wrong with they heart they would have told you !!! Anxiety is a LIAR! The one telling you your heart is weak and will fail so do not leave home is ANXIETY and that B**** lies all day long to keep us under her control. Time to wrest yourself free from her even if it's just for a few minutes a day . Scream at her, cuss at her, defy her and go OUT anyway! Maybe some president or astronaut said '' the only thing we have to fear is fear itself'' and that is the TRUTH in our lives . It may not be for everyone but those of us on this forum know. Yes , I do believe having the chest cold is exacerbating the sensations that you feel in your chest and making it all seem worse. Also, worth looking into is intestinal gas causing the pains in your left arm and feeling of fullness, tightness in your chest. I was set free quite a bit when I realized how much extra AIR I was taking in the more I panicked. Also, I took in a lot of extra air when I ate, I guess between bites and stuff. It can really feel painful and awkward. Look to your diet and gut and see if that makes any sense. If you drink a lot of carbonated beverages, you're filling up on gas as well.
