Mark G 1186 Posted October 16, 2015 Its not kind of like, it IS adrenalin. Thats what it is doing , it surges through you, it opens your veins up, it send you heart galloping. It's what that hormone was designed to do. The goosebumps and tingling is all part of the same thing, anxiety produced adrenalin intensified by introspection.
Chicosalt 2 Posted September 11, 2016 Gilly (and friends), I am these people also, scared to death which makes it impossible to relax and deal w anxiety alone. I've read a bunch of your posts and appreciate how positive and reassuring you are. While it is obvious close attention needs to be paid to containing general anxiety, a large part of this is clearly also containing health anxiety for so many of us. . My question to you, who appears to have (had) symptoms so close to mine: My feet have been "numbish" and burning for a year now. Doctor, without examing, says " sounds like peripheral neuropathy." He's killing me! ? Besides fearful, pounding heart this same whole year, I've not many other symptoms- a few minor, transient ones. Can these miserable feet sensations still be "just" anxiety??? Thanks in advance for your response , and for all the encouragement you've given in the past.

Female? Just a theory I have concluded, is that even though yes I do believe these neurological sensations can be anxiety alone I think for a lot of us, it's also our age and hormones. I think around the mid 30's to early 40's our hormones can fluctuate quite a lot, and that is totally normal, but couple that with anxiety? I think that is often the culprit for these weird and not so wonderful symptoms. I remember having one foot roasting hot and one foot stone cold and numb, for hours. I panicked about that and never did figure out why. Anxiety can do crazy things!! I tried all sorts, vitamins, supplements, minerals, exercise. Nothing seemed to help much until it just settled down on it's own when my anxiety improved. I don't see trying all those things as a waste of time though, I think it helps to believe we are doing something constructive to help ourselves
Okmom 9 Posted September 11, 2016 I have had these symptoms as well for about 2yrs now. Crawling, stinging , burning skin sensations .. They move around all over my body. Even though I've been told it's stress and anxiety I still find it hard to accept. I'm in an emotionally abusive relationship with my husband and I feel trapped and unable to leave .. Gilly, you said yours got better. Mine seems to just be staying the same. when did you feels yours started to subside? I feel like the longer it continues the more I start to lose hope
Chicosalt 2 Posted September 12, 2016 Gilly, Thank you again for sharing your experience and insight- SO valuable! I am 65, quit 15 years of Paxil cold turkey a year ago (infinitely bad advice from GP), when anxiety went through the roof, accompanied by this distressing burning and numb feet thing. I suspect (hope?) this is a result of that combination of angst. BUT!! Interesting hypothesis about hormones. While I've always had anxiety, I have been reflecting back a few decades when I had the other miserable combination -- anxiety (yeah, life long-hence the Paxil) and menopause. I had the worst roving and random body pains, dropped eye lid, head pain (not headache), trouble breathing, ad nauseum, that sent me from specialist to specialist looking for an answer. I'm guessing this all lasted 5-8 years. And then weirdly, it all went away. Only in these last few months, while looking for reassurance about my feet, have I considered/realized that the then pain might have been all anxiety. Not a doc in the area helped with that diagnosis. That also was a scary time. So, there ya go!!! Now for these dang feet. ARGH!! This is constant, 24-7, for this full year, and I'm not SURE it isn't getting worse, despite the walking, yoga, meditation, small doses of Xanax, CBT, etc. etc. Is why I'm here, asking. Doctors for me have proved less than worthless- actually damaging. At least I can suspect it may be anxiety this time around. Thanks again, Gilly. You are appreciated.

I am also a victim of the burning/irritation feeling, legs, arms back arms, etc... for the last 2 months, it went away for a few days and then it came back. My blood work and MRI, of brain and lower back, came normal. My neuro thinks anxiety may be the cause. and i know is hard to believe. I started on Lexapro 10 days ago, i hope it will help me. Wishing you all the best.
Ihadcancer 321 Posted February 10, 2017 If you have painful skin, look up tactile (or mechanical) allodynia. I have it in my legs from ankles to mid thigh but it only bothers me if I'm wearing soft clothes or if the sheets brush across my skin at night. I finally found the cause of mine. CNS damage caused by chemo. One day I just typed in allodynia and FOLFOX and a bunch of study papers came up. Just knowing what it was helped, tho it does concern me that it came on slowly, years after chemo ended and makes me wonder if it'll spread to the rest of my body. So far it seems to have stopped at mid thigh, tho. I won't take Lyrica. Too many side effects. I just try to not let things rub over my skin and once I'm asleep, I don't notice it.

Now that is very interesting to me. I take azathiorprine/Imuran for my Crohns. I've been taking it, just turned 12 years now. It is an old school immunosuppresant that a long time ago was used for chemotherapy, albeit at a much higher dose than I take. If my burning skin and skin sensitive to the touch had not gone away this would have been a lightbulb moment! Maybe it was connected anyway? But good grief I remember how awful it was, jeans were a no no, even leaning my leg against the car door as I sat there hurt. It did coincide with my anxiety being the worst so, who knows? Very interesting to know though IHC! Thank you
Thrufaith 9 Posted February 13, 2017 Just wondering if anybody here also feels achy, like your muscles ache and your legs ache..it gets worse at night, but while I am sleeping I do not feel it. These symptoms started when I got the flu back on December 18th 2016, I then had a sinus infection and was on two rounds of antibiotics, since having the flu and taking the antibiotics I have not felt like myself. I tend to feel colder than usual, and these aches make me feel old, and I am only 33. I am very scared that this is something serious. I had blood work back in October 22nd 2016 and all was normal. prior to this happening I was feeling great. I do not understand why this is happening? I also get like this burning feeling on my skin as well. I have read that this could be fibromyalgia or other autoimmune conditions. I should mention that I do have Hashimotos which is an autoimmune condition of the thyroid. Could this something worse like leukemia?? please help me! Feeling lost and alone. very scared at times where all I do is cry.

I went to pick up my (small) dog to take her outside and now I just had to take a breather

I have been experiencing symptoms exactly like you describe, and mine turned out to be Lyme disease. If that's not something you have checked for, it might be worth looking in to. I hope you are doing much better these days!
