BejeweledMexican 32 Posted August 9, 2019 So the past two weeks I’ve had a cough and felt like I’ve had a little trouble breathing. It’s mostly gone now, though I’m still coughing a little. Well, my room is PACKED full of stuff. I mean...it’s messy. I just have my one room and all my stuff lives in there with me. Well, as I’m cleaning up for a garage sale and hoping to downsize for my upcoming move I found an almost empty bottle of nail polish remover. I do my nails about every two weeks and I only bought the remover like 2 months ago. Last I used it there was a full bottle...now there’s less than an 1/8. It must have spilled out on the floor....could it have poisoned me? What do I do?!?
BejeweledMexican 32 Posted August 9, 2019 I should note that I never smelled a single thing. Nothing out of the ordinary and I didn’t find any wet spots. It’s just so weird!!!!

Weird you didn't smell it. I too have trouble getting air lately that leads to me coughing or clearing my throat. I assumed acid reflux, air conditioner or we have a ton of smoke in the air from wildfires. I wouldn't think much about it. Plus when I start thinking of things that make me panic I noticed I begin the deep cough
MobileChucko 23 Posted August 9, 2019 Hi Bejeweled... Acetone, which is what nail polish remover is, is really not a chemical to worry about. The substance has been thoroughly studied and found to have low toxicity if someone drinks or inhales it. There is also no indication that it causes cancer, or any long lasting neurological effects. Our own bodies actually produce a small amount of acetone. You may have heard of diabetic individuals producing to much acetone, thus developing ketoacidosis. Acetone is actually used in the manufacturing of many of our processed and unprocessed foods. And the topper is, the EPA has removed acetone from the list of "toxic chemicals". I hope that this helps to put your mind at ease. The very best to you, Bejeweled!... Chuck🐈 Oh Bejeweled! I just noticed you live in Ohio... I was born in Cleveland and raised in Fairborn, Ohio, just outside of Dayton. Please send me some snow this winter. I miss it and we don't get any in coastal Alabama-LOL!😁

bin_tenn 1252 Posted August 9, 2019 I'm in middle TN and snow is hit or miss here. Sometimes we get dumped on, and sometimes it's like we live in a tropical climate... 😂

It's so magical and beautiful. I hope you get some too Chuck. Oh my goodness y'all are hilarious. I mean....I've had snow my whole life and it's nice for the first month but when it's still snowing in April I'll send it all down to you guys! Thankfully in two weeks I'll be in South Carolina and so no more snow (except I'm home at Christmas....which is the BEST time for snow! I love it!) Thanks for the help guys. I'm just really struggling and really just trying to find a REASON as to why I keep coughing/feeling like I can't breath/ all phlegmy. I'm over it. It's been two weeks now and though it's been better, it's still there. I'm scared. I know originally I was scared of TB but now I'm kind of back to fluid in my lungs. I don't know. I'm searching for reasons when there's one probably right there in front of me.....ANXIETY. But for 2 weeks????
bin_tenn 1252 Posted August 9, 2019 Anxiety may or may not be exacerbating the symptom, but I don't know that it would actually cause the symptom. Still, there may not be a hard answer. Sometimes (often?) things like this don't have an answer, no apparent reason. That's part of life, and that's why acceptance is important. You learn to accept the fact that there aren't always answers and that it doesn't mean something is wrong.

I have been coughing just a little the past few days but nowhere near as bad as last week, that's a good sign right? It's just today it feels like it's hard to breath again. bin_tenn 1252 Posted August 9, 2019 Allergies often cause sore throat, cough, excess mucus, post nasal drip, etc, yes.
