Sallyhart 16 Posted August 7, 2019 Hi Everyone This past little while I have been somewhat concerned about 2 moles that I thought were a bit odd. I had an upcoming appt at the Derm office so thought I will wait it out and ask him when I go. Now, ordinarily I would not have waited to see him, I would have gone to my GP for reassurance and asked her then asked him. I would also have googled and looked at images and read about what they could/might be. Instead, I took advice from this Community ...DO NOT GOOGLE...so I did not Google and I did not go see my GP and I did not post here looking for reassurance which is what I wanted to do! I waited it out. For me, this is great progress, a stepping stone in the right direction, yes I woke up thinking about them, yes I thought about them throughout the day BUT, I did not Google or rush to my GP...so I think I did well considering. So Thank You community for consistently reminding us all not to Google....I hope I can do this again when my next 'thing' crops up...It's a start right?
lofwyr 215 Posted August 7, 2019 Congratulations! That is real, and serious progress! Be proud, and enjoy the victory. More important, should you feel anxiety coming back, remember this post, come back and read it if you need to. Get your reassurance from your victories.

jonathan123 2368 Posted August 8, 2019 Hi. Sallyhart. It's more than just a step forward. WOW!! I'm so pleased for you. It's so good to get a good post showing such advancement. You highlight once again the dangers of going to Dr. Google. I am sure half the problems in HA are caused by googling. I have talked about suggestion before and it may not be realised enough how powerful it can be. When in a negative mode the slightest thing can trigger an anxiety spell. A sound, a picture, a book, TV and so on. Anything to do with illness, and boy, don't we get it all the time, and it's difficult to get away from it. Don't anticipate your next 'thing'. It will only happen if you allow it to. Two steps forward one back. But the movement is ever forward. Yes, and read your own post again. Copy it and keep it with you. And no thanks required. We are all here to help each other through sometimes very difficult times. Take care. Be kind to yourself and proud of your achievement.

MobileChucko 23 Posted August 8, 2019 Hi Sally!... What a great post! Thank-you for sharing it with the community! I would say you took more then a single stepping stone, I think you crossed the whole river with what you did. You didn't Google... That would have been a big step in itself, but you also didn't run to your GP, or even post here on AC for added support. Major "Kudos" to you! I have a feeling that you are going to continue down this path, and your anxiety isn't gonna know what to do with itself-LOL!😂 Keep up the good work, Sally! The very best to you...🐈 Chuck

I also have been having anxiety about a mole all thanks to Google! I try not to and then a thought will pop in my head and I'm like hmmm let's google that, and I'll be on my phone googling for hours. I've even gone as far as downloading melanoma apps and checking my mole. My Dr prescribed me anxiety pills for this reason but I don't usually take them cause they knock me out and I have 2 kids to care for. You should feel very proud that you took a step at overcoming you're anxiety, I can only hope to take the same step soon. ❤️
