Wingnut 13 Posted March 9, 2019 The past few days I have been working on a friends RV inside of a barn FULL of mice/rats. While working on the RV, we ripped up wood with rat droppings behind it, and throwing dust everywhere. I wore a mask for some of the demoltions, but not all of it. Today I have been getting these severe dizzy spells and my anxiety has been non-stop to the point im having panic attacks. Im freaking out that im going to catch a hantavirus or deadly disease from working in such conditions. D':
kj103 22 Posted March 10, 2019 I’ve done this multiple times, cleaning out a barn and a chicken coop. I was paranoid for weeks. Hantavirus is soooo rare, though. I feel your concern and anxiety. Your probably more likely to get bitten by a gator in the glades, than to get Hantavirus.
Jae 211 Posted March 10, 2019 Me too! We have a shed in the backyard, the mice have a field day in there. Every spring we empty it out and I sweep and clean it. There are piles of mouse droppings and dirt. I never knew anything could happen so I didn't give it a thought. Now that you fine folks put hantavirus in my head, I'll think twice about cleaning the shed. lol. Not really, I'll clean it just like I have for the last 25+ years. If I'm fine.... You're fine wingnut.
Wingnut 13 Posted March 10, 2019 Im actually in the Everglades right now! Haha. Ugh...my heart is racing tonight I am beyond paranoid. My mind is stuck on my friends and I ending up dying in the hospital from some disease. I know its really rare but theres that..."what if"? That I cannot get rid of 😕
kj103 22 Posted March 10, 2019 Totally get it. I won’t pretend I’m not afraid of such things. You are not alone. The two worst words in the world—what if.

mollyfin 366 Posted March 11, 2019 You'll only get hantavirus from a specific species - that doesn't live on the East Coast. You'll be fine! But maybe wear a mask anyway because I can't imagine inhaling all that shit will make you feel great!
