Cubanborn87 42 Posted January 17, 2019 If anyone with the knowkedge, please educate me and tell me what the muscle spasms that AlS patients suffer from feel like? I have been suffering from hypnic Jerks for a while now and didn't think much of it. Now I am suffering from it during the day. A few days ago I would feel 1 or 2 during the day but didn't think anything of it. Now I am feeling them everywhere and it's really scaring me. I even took a anti anxiety medicine last night to make sure that I could get some sleep ubkinke the night before. I am getting then all over just like the the twitches, I get then in n hands and makes my fingers move same when it happens in my feet. I also get them in my knee at times which makes my knee buckke and in my hands and arm. I don't know what is going on guys but , every few weeks it feels like there is something really bad going on and there is always a new symtom every week or 2. I am afraid that this is one of the last symtoms before everything starts going bad. Do ALS patients shake with tremor or involuntary movements? I thought the limb just fails , I dont know but this is very scary. It is becoming as constant as.tje twitching used to be. I still get twitching but not as much as before. Ever since these new set of suntkns started. I dont feel weakness , I don't feel clumsy, but all this small contractions were making it very hard for me to type and do stuff with my hands fast yesterday. I am afraid that in a few weeks my symtoms will be slurring or something . When will this nightmare end,? Do ALS patients limbs shake? When they are trying to performed tsks? I keep getting that very annoying slight jerks when I try to perform a task with a certain part of my body. Sometimes it happens at rest. .By the way just like the twitches this is happening everywhere. It almost feels like this has replaced the twitches. I still get the twitches but not as often as I used to. Another thing that has me super worried, I weighed 190 on December 4th. I justed weighed in myself this morning and I weighed at 181. My left shoe also feels really loose compared to the right one This is really starting to frightened me. Is this the so called clonus that ALS patients talk about ? Dotdispenser 12 Posted January 17, 2019 Cuban, one of the many side effects of SSRIs are Myoclonic jerks. I’ve never really heard ALS patients talk about Myoclonic jerks as one of their presenting symptoms. I get these jerks in my hands, arms, feet, legs, torso, and even full-body jerks. On top of these being induced by your medicine, they are also induced by anxiety. I know that it is hard to believe, but this is not ALS creeping into your life. You mentioned that you’ve lost weight. Have you been eating less? When I’m anxious I can’t eat. If not, weight loss is one of the most common symptoms of SSRIs which is a much more likely cause. I hate that you’re struggling like you are, but I’m going through the exact same fear as you right now, and you’ve got to take a step back and stop chasing your thoughts and stop running from them. Your symptoms are all completely normal. Do you think that if anybody on this forum thought you had ALS, they’d tell you it’s probably health anxiety instead? You’re not alone in this fear. You can get out of it, Cuban! Stop Googling, start meditating, occupy your mind and body (read, learn, exercise), and go force yourself to be around people again. Live and love life. None of us are guaranteed tomorrow. If you need anything feel free to p.m. me 🙂

I want everything to go back to how it was 2 months ago. It feels like every day there is something else. My legs feel super jittery and I keep getting the jerks everywhere. Now I find out about the weight . I know I have been very stressed and anxious but that seems to be a lot of weight loss. I have only been on Fluoxetine for 3 days

I have only been on Fluoxetine for 3 days I lost over 10 lbs throughout this whole stretch of anxiety. Still trying to get back up to my normal weight. I was 5’5” and 115 before all of this and now I’m down to 105-107. At one point I got down to like 98 or 99 lbs.
Jremtx 121 Posted January 17, 2019 When I was in my “A” fear I was 148, I lost 10 pounds. Fast foward 3 months later and I’m 162 now. You need to let this fear go. Cause honestly not to be so vulgar but it ain’t shit.

Cause honestly not to be so vulgar but it ain’t shit. I want to feel OK again, soenthing is going on. Hopefully when I weigh in next Monday , i don't see anymore weight loss. My left hand felt fine, but it was really shaky. Like it almost had a slight tremor. Then I have this jerks non stop throughout the day. It's no longer at night. This past few weeks have been insane. The crazy thing is my anxiety last 2 weeks hasn't been anywhere as bad as it was around the holidays. When I wasn't getting any sleep or rest. Barely eating as well. Jremtx 121 Posted January 17, 2019 “Barely eating as well” well that’s why. You’re not thinking rationally and therefor your mind is playing tricks on you.

One of the reasons I am so anxious right now, is because whatever these symtoms are , they are moving super fast. I am actually very concerned. I am a total different person than I was 2 weeks ago. I was way more healthier. Does ALS move this fast? Even my hands have slight tremor. Of course left one more than the right one. It's going to take a miracle to have a clean EMG
Cubanborn87 42 Posted January 17, 2019 Unfortunately it looks like I have clonus. It has really dehabilitated me these last 2 days, I am having trouble doing the simplest tasks at times it's not because of weakness or anything like that . Instead the muscle contractions my my fingers and limbs non stop.

I researched clonus and that's exactly what has been going on last 2 days.
Iugrad91 501 Posted January 17, 2019 And it’s also a side effect from the meds you’re on so talk to the doc about it. With SSRI’s anxiety usually gets a little worse before it gets better. Can take a couple of weeks before the meds start to work steadily. You’ll have some ups and downs between now and then. Try to hang in there and ride it out. Iugrad91 501 Posted January 17, 2019 Yes, side effects can start after the first dose. They should get better after a few weeks when you start to feel the drug starting to work. I haven’t taken them personally but worked in the pharma industry for many years with a company that made one of the popular SSRI’s. The first month is the hardest when you have side effects and your body is getting used to the meds but the therapeutic effects are still building.

Do you think it could mimic symtoms that are close to what clonus does? Last few days I have been getting clonus line symtoms. Is really scary. My left foot also feels like it has no support and when I put my shoes on, it feels like I have a lot of wiggle room in that shoe. The other thing that I find concerning is ever since all this started the wide spread twitches are almost gone. It seems that I only get fine little twitches in there problem foot and an occasional one somewhere else here and there.
