DeannaW 18 Posted December 31, 2018 I have this off and on, and have had it for a long time. I figure if it were something serious, it would've progressed into something else by now. lol Usually it goes away when I start worrying about something else, so I'd say it's just anxiety!

I’ve even worried that I started developing a lisp, but I stop noticing it when I either get busy enough or started worrying about something else. lol If it persists and you start feeling anxious about it, ask your doctor for peace of mind, but I’ve read if you’re able to raise your tongue like you’re trying to touch your nose, you’re probably fine and it’ll go away eventually! A Dr can tell if something is going on by looking at it. Since your fear is oral and you have been seen several times that has been looked at.. you are also over focusing and that can cause all kinds of sensations to start. PennyPanic 276 Posted January 1, 2019 Summer of 2017 was horrible for me...which means my HA, depression and anxiety was really bad. That was probably one of the darkest times in my life ever - I'd have been through some sh*t in my life. Anyhow, It was the first time and hopefully the only time my tongue would shake when I stuck it out. I was basically shaking all over and my tongue was shaking worst of all. That summer was so horrible in every way that I didn't even have time to check the tongue thing out with my doctor. Believe me, I go to the doctor at the drop of a hat...but not that summer for that. Anyhow, once life settled down, the tongue was back to normal. I had no idea it was due to anxiety but seeing posts here and everywhere since the dark summer of 2017 I have come to realize that for me it was all just anxiety related. I'm sorry you are going through this. Of course I'm just some chic on the Internet and not a doctor but I'd bet that this is anxiety for you as it was for me and that it will pass. Do keep us posted. Thanks for the reply i will if it get worse. It has to be anxiety. I mean know i have a thumb going into spasms really trying to trigger me. 1 hour ago, Holls said: If you stick your tongue out it's going to twitch, everyone's does. Ya i first noticed it by sticking my tongue out and it shook like crazy but not how als would. It also moves a bit at rest but i bet its normal just didn't think a tongue twitch was even possible. 21 minutes ago, PennyPanic said: Summer of 2017 was horrible for me...which means my HA, depression and anxiety was really bad. Thats what i did felt it twitch opened my mouth to look and it twitched like crazy my whole mouth did. But than just at rest when trying to sleep i feel it twich now and than. I know i have horrible health anxiety and als is the least likely of problems. I find my tongue to be awkward in the mouth probably from over stimulating it. Vandelsrock21 104 Posted January 8, 2019 Hey guys my tongue is still twitching no suprise. But i have noticed something. I stick it out and everything twiched my jaw and alo if it. I also developed a sore inside my jaw and when i rub my tongue against it the tongue goes crazy. I am almost thinking that because of my obsession with oral cancer and constantly doing things with my tongue. I probably have some irritated nerves or damage. Whenever I go for a cleaning at the dentist my jaw will start shaking...like I cannot control it at all. My hygienist says it's normal and that hers does it as well. She said it was due to tight muscles and then having the jaw open for an extended period for the cleaning and the muscles get tired. I think I clench my jaw at night so that definitely does not help. So perhaps muscle tiredness is what you are experiencing?
