Odd smells periodically

Recommended Posts

Hey all.  I have suffered with chronic anxiety for years, I mean years like 35 years.  Periodically, and currently right now, I have a bad "smell" when I am inhaling, like something in my nose but it at times is almost fruity and can also be ammonia like.  The last time it happened as about 2 years ago.  I saw the doctor and of course got the usual "nothing is wrong".  It seems like it lasted weeks.  Well, it is back and seems to be nearly ever present.  Do any of you experience the same kind of thing, where you have an odd smell through your nose that there is no explanation for?  I'm sure it is probably anxiety related but just looking for some reassurance.  Thanks everyone!

I've never had this happen to me but I'm sure others have experienced it.  You know nothing is in your nose so get a check up and make sure all is OK.  Anxiety can show up in many ways and this might be one of them.  Get a check up though for your own peace of mind.

I've had it before. It was about 10 years ago. It lasted for about a month and I haven't had it again. I kept smelling something like a perfumed lotion, kind of fruity. I have heard others on this site say that they have had weird smells out of no where. I am assuming mine was from anxiety. I haven't had it since though.

I had this the other day!! Whenever I breathed in I would smell pipe tobacco! I have no idea why I’d smell that! It lasted all day but was gone when I woke up the next morning. Very strange and freaked me out!
