I had this problem most of my life. The only time I could really sleep was when I was pregnant. Like you said I just lay there until I am exhausted and fall asleep at like 3 AM. Finally I just gave up and started staying up really late through most of my years. My advice would be to excercise in the morning, write a list of the things you need to do the next day to get it out of your head, drink some tea, take some melatonin at the same time every night, take a bubble bath, and READ. Reading makes me fall right to sleep. Possibly a dull book because if it is an exciting book you won't want to put it down. It clears your mind and relaxes you.

It sounds like a bit of social anxiety to me. I have suffered from it my whole life and so does most of my family. Our way of dealing with it was to just avoid all social functions and hang out with eachother. I had the same friends since Elemantary School and I would hang out with them but never go to parties or dances or anything with them. After I got married my husband joined the Marine Corps and we moved away from my comfort zone, family, and job. For three years we have lived out here and I have only made a couple of friends. I have started working on it and have met some great people the past couple of months. I started committing to things so I couldn't get out of it without letting people down. I volunteer, I go to church, I take my daughter's on playdates, and RSVP to go to birthday parties and things. The more I socialize, the better it gets. I do worry about it for days before the event and for the first few minutes I am sweating all over myself and panicking but then I end up enjoying myself and having a great time. Maybe get some counseling too!

I had a traumatic experience a few years ago. I blocked it out for a while but lately it has come back to haunt me. How can I make it go away for good and move on with life? I feel like I am stuck in limbo until it is taken care of. I have also always had social anxiety my whole life basically. I noticed I have started stuttering a few times during the day. I know my uncle had one of the worst things possible happen and he was the one who found his brother who committed s*****e and has stuttered ever since then. Any advice on my stuttering? I have always spoken well and inunciated and I am starting to mumble and stutter. Thank you.

My name is Antje and I am new to this site. I am currently living in Twentynine Palms, CA with my husband, who is stationed here with the Marine Corps, and our two daughters. I enjoy sewing and doing things outdoors like rafting, swimming, hiking, camping, and fishing. Most of my family suffers from many anxiety disorders so I thought this would be a great site to share my experiences and get information to help myself and my family overcome or learn to live with our problems.
