Please help me ease my pain

Recommended Posts

Welcome Ashley. :).

Gosh! we all are or at least most of us on here. There will be no judgement or criticism or fatuous remarks like 'pull yourself together'. That's why we can help. We have all heard that kind of nonsense. If you tell us a bit more about how you feel we may be able to talk more. Look round the site and see how others have coped. Yes it is real pain isn't it. Perhaps not physical, but mental pain can be so much worse.

On October the 23. I was in a bad head on collision the person who hit me died. I know it wasn't my fault but I'm feeling a lot of pain if I even see an accident I start to panic I can only imagine what his family is going through. when I think about the details of the accident I get really emotional to where I can't control it . I can't get the sounds out my head of us colliding or of him gasping for air he was dying right in front of me nd all I could do was try to find help but I was to sore to walk so I laid in the grass. Thank god for the people that came to our recuse but unfortunately it was to late for him. I think about what did he say to his family before he took that last ride of his life. He was 77 and he had a wife and kids and grandchildren. It has been really rough for me since this happened a month before thanksgiving. Please help me to deal with this traumatic event I feel like I will NEVER! Get my life back.

Oh my dear Ashley. How awful for you. This is surely PTSD and you do need help and advice from a professional. Are you having any? The fact that it wasn't your fault does not help, does it. It's the events that are causing the heartaches and the trauma. One thing to be grateful for, and it may not seem to be to you, is that you can remember it all, you have not repressed any of it which can make things so much worse, believe me. In remembering you can deal with it.

You will get your life back because memories do fade, but in the meantime do try and get professional help, Also some short term medication from your GP could ease the burden just a bit. It's so important you do. We can help on here and are only too willing to do so, but face to face therapy is what you need. ANYTIME you want to talk or just let it out come back and do so, we always listen.

Awful things happen to us in life and it's amazing where we find the strength and the courage to cope, but we do. Give it time Ashley, time is so important.

Thank you so much that did ease a lil pain for me especially when you tell me I will be able to have my life back means alot. I'm soo emotional because I finally can talk to someone who will understand. I've been  a prisoner in my own mental state I can't afford help right now so all I can do is vent through this Amazing chat site. I'm just now going back to work since the accident  so once I get my Financial situation together I can talk to somebody professionally because can't do this alone it's too much for me

That's good news Ashley. Going back to work and being occupied is essential. But once you can afford help get it. It is possible to recover without it, but it helps so much to talk to someone who understands.

Yes; there now you have the root of the problem. NEVER bottle up. Now I know how difficult it can be to talk to people about this and you must be careful who you do talk to, but expressing your feelings and emotions is so very important I can't emphasise it enough. Things kept to yourself fester inside and cause no end of anxiety and fear. Have you any close friends you can confide in? You can talk freely here and I hope you do. You will be OK. Honest, just give it time.

Yes I do talk to my friends and they listen and try to be the best support system they can be.but they only can do so much since they can only show sympathy instead of empathy. But I will use this website to my best ability to get some understanding until I can get help.

Oh honey , that's so sad.  I am sure you are shaken to the core. The good news is what you're experiencing is very common for anyone in that type of traumatizing situation. You are not alone in that. You are not strange or weird or going crazy because your brain experienced too much to handle.  It was simply too much. That does not mean you are weak!   You are reaching out for help and that shows real courage.  About 6 months ago I began guided meditations ( thanks to the suggestion of a member here ) They're on youtube so they're free and I could not believe how helpful they have been.  I thought meditations were spiritual or even ' hippy' type stuff before I tried them. They're really relaxing and I wonder if they may help you to calm down.

You're a rock star, young lady!
