  1. I was on the fence about supernatural things/afterlife until my dad died. We were very close. He was also very close to my son who is developmentally disabled. When my dad got sick and was going through treatment, my son said to him one day, "papa, if you die you have to promise to always be with us." My dad promised him he would. After he died, weird things started happening. Mostly with lights. Not just one light flickering here and there. All different lights throughout the house and two of the outside lights. I had lived in that house for almost ten years and never had a light flicker until then. And it wasn't that suddenly all of these light bulbs were burning out...none of them did. And I wasn't imagining it. Two of my sisters saw it too. Other things have happened over the past five years since he passed away as well. I believe there is more going on than we can imagine.
  2. Thank you so much for your responses. They really help!
  3. Hi. Has anyone had ocular migraines? I was diagnosed about 15 years ago when I had my first one. I get them 2 or 3 times a year and they last around 30 minutes and my vision goes back to normal. It starts with the little light in the center of my vision, then I get the jagged circle in my vision that grows and then goes away. I just had one in my left eye. It lasted about twenty minutes and my vision is back to normal. I tried to remain calm, but these usually trigger some anxiety because I figure that THIS one is more than just an ocular migraine! This is my first one this year. I think I just need some words of encouragement. (I had a regular eye exam a couple of months ago and my vision changed a little but otherwise was fine.) Thanks.
  4. I'm with Mollyfin. I've read a lot of books and I know if I wait long enough I can read them again like they are new. I don't do Facebook anymore. I did it briefly years ago...And if I went back and read those posts I'm sure they wouldn't ring a bell.
  5. How did things turn out for you? It's awful when it feels like everything is going wrong physically. In reality, our anxiety and fear cause most of the problems. I'm going through a rough patch right now and noticed that my "illnesses" were getting all muddled up with each other. Then the fear sets in and all logic goes out the window. I have a therapist I talk to and that helps.
  6. I didn't have much chest congestion or heaviness. Sometimes the gunk from the nasal drip would head down further and I would hear a slight rattle, but was able to cough it up. I've had this for many years though. These past few months have been pretty bad because it's been cold this winter and the furnace is on a very dry in the house. I should have started the neti pot sooner. I also started boiling a pot of water on the stove to get some moisture in the air. Also, make sure you drink enough water. That helps thin the mucus.
  7. I have chronic post nasal drip. In the morning I would cough a lot and there would be gunk in the back of my throat. I would also cough off and on throughout the day. I've noticed that since I started using a neti pot to irrigate my sinuses the cough is a lot less in the morning and throughout the day. And I don't wake up with much gunk in my throat.
  8. Hi. Last Thursday during the night I started feeling pins and needles on the left side of my face...from my ear to my eye and the edge of my nose and down around the jaw line. My logical brain said it was a sinus issue because I have chronic sinus drainage and post nasal drip. My anxiety brain said stroke. I called my doctor's office and got the 24 hour nurse. She asked questions and said I should be seem by a doctor within 4 hours. Instant panic. At 1am I drove myself to the ER. My blood pressure was crazy when I got there. The doctor was very nice and understanding. He did the check up for stroke and there were no signs. I ended up having a middle ear infection. He said there is probably swelling and that can cause the pins and needles feeling. That made me feel better...for a little while. The pins and needles feeling has been getting better, but every time I feel it I get scared and get online to find some information that will calm me down. Tonight I made the mistake of reading something that said a person could start getting symptoms up to a week before having a stroke. I'm not losing strength on that side. I'm not drooping. No confusion or headache or blurred vision. Sometimes I feel a little tingling in my chin and neck. Ugh. Incidentally, my health anxiety comes and goes depending on the amount of anxiety I'm having in my life. I'm currently going through a rough patch. And, I'm 58 years I imagine more illness stuff is possible. Any words of wisdom?
  9. Hi. I've struggled with these same issues and worries. Something that helped me was watching Dr. Sanjay Gupta from York Cardiology on YouTube. He is a cardiologist and explains all kinds of things related to the heart and anxiety, palpitations, reflux, etc.. I've found the videos very helpful.
  10. Thanks for your response. Yes, stroke entered my mind as well. I hate my brain sometimes. It tortures me.
  11. Hi. I wonder if anyone can help me. I've had anxiety, panic attacks, and health anxiety off and on for many many years, but am still surprised at times by some of the crazy sensations I feel. This past Tuesday I had a panic attack...more like a panic flash attack...the kind that takes hold of you instantly and hard. I was driving at the time. I had been having anxiety prior to that, so in retrospect, the panic attack shouldn't have been a surprise. But I had a weird symptom/sensation. When the panic flashed, it felt like my pupils dilated and I was on visual sensory overload, then I felt pressure in my head like it might explode. It lasted a couple of seconds and then went back to just bad anxiety. The reason I'm posting in the health anxiety section is because now I'm afraid there is something terribly wrong with me. I get check ups regularly at the doctor and blood work. Nothing out of the ordinary. I've had my fair share of tests done...all normal. But panic attacks seem to shake me up and send me down the dark path of health anxiety. Has anyone had anything like this happen? I should mention that I have chronic sinus issues, post nasal drip, and my ears are plugged up off and on. Might have contributed to the pressure feeling in my head? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
